The partnership aims to connect
classroom learning with real-world medical practice, equip future healthcare
professionals with practical skills, and support better healthcare services for
communities across Ethiopia.
The MoU was signed by Dr.-Ing.
Towfik Jemal, President of Werabe University, and Yetnayet Tamirat, CEO and
Founder of Swiss Diagnostics Ethiopia.
Under the agreement, the two
institutions will work together to provide clinical attachments and hands-on
training for undergraduate medical students, medical laboratory science
students, and postgraduate scholars. These opportunities will help students
gain practical experience, strengthen their professional skills, and better
prepare for the demands of the healthcare sector.
Research is another key focus of
the partnership. The institutions will collaborate on priority health issues,
including breast cancer, cervical cancer, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal
diseases, and lung cancer.
Beyond education and research,
the partnership seeks to bring healthcare services closer to communities.
Through joint initiatives, the two institutions will promote cancer screening,
encourage early diagnosis, and raise public awareness about disease prevention
and the importance of timely medical care.
The agreement also opens
opportunities for technology transfer and the modernization of laboratory
services.
Through this collaboration,
Werabe University aims to expand practical learning opportunities, strengthen
its research capabilities, and improve access to specialized diagnostic
services. The partnership also reflects the University's commitment to
connecting academic knowledge with practical solutions that address real
healthcare needs.
By bringing together the University's academic expertise and Swiss Diagnostics Ethiopia's diagnostic capabilities, the agreement lays the groundwork for a partnership that can benefit students, healthcare professionals, researchers, and the wider community.
